Style Challenge: 3 Looks in 30 Minutes

I think anyone who becomes a stylist, a wardrobe consultant or, as I call myself, a wardrobe strategist, just wants to dress women up and make them feel good. It’s a wonderful thing to see the look in a woman’s eye when she takes on a new image by stepping into clothing she might not have chosen for herself.

And so it was the case when Maria von Losch of Savvynista and I met up for lunch and an afternoon shopping session. As we dined on salads and vegetarian cuisine, she suggested that – instead of simply shopping – we should style each other.

Challenge accepted! And, in under 30 minutes? On your mark, get set – SHOP!

The fun part about this challenge was that Maria and I have very different personal styles. She, being from LA, has a much more rebellious, rock-n-roll style. I, on the other hand, enjoy the laid back but classic style of Orange County.

I immediately raided Maje, Hoss Intropia and DVF. After gathering up a few key pieces, I perused Vince Camuto, Michael Kors and DKNY. It’s no secret that I love combining color, so for her first look I combined a colorful, floral top and a pair of metallic jeans. For her second look, I paired one of my favorite combos this season – red and nude. I thought her neon stilettos paired perfectly with each outfit; who knew neon was a neutral?

But my favorite outfit combo was one that mostly combined neutrals. I paired sailor-style shorts with a white silk crepe blouse and a collarless jacket. This outfit showed off Maria’s great figure and looked super-classy. Again, those neon heels proved to be a great neutral!

Doesn’t she look fierce! I hope this was her favorite outfit too.

From working with Maria, I know that she has a very sophisticated sense of style – and “savvy” is definitely how I would describe her. She currently has a styling package for those in the online dating arena, and it’s called “Date Style Savvy Suite.” Maria will style both you and your online profile to make sure you’re attracting the right suitor. For more details on this, check out her website.

However, remember this was a style challenge. To see the 3 outfits she styled me in, check it out here. She definitely got me out of my comfort zone, dressing me up in … well, you’ll see ;)

Tell me in the comments below which outfit I chose for Maria you liked best!

  1. OMG!! I love the images and the looks but you definitely picked my favorite one as your fave. Although my hubby liked the floral top combo the best, go figure! I look forward to many more Style Challenges with you! xo
